What have you been memorizing?
We’d love to hear about it. Your journey in scripture, one heart verse at a time, will encourage both those new to memorization as well as seasoned veterans who still love hearing the joys of Hiding His Word in our hearts.
I was spurred on to memorize more when I heard a lady at my church quoting scripture in a Bible class. I knew preachers did that, but hearing it from another woman fascinated me.
If she could do it, why couldn’t I? Why can’t you? It’s not easy, but it’s a blessing. The more you learn, the more you want to learn.
Now I’m decorating with it. In my Sunday class, we each embellish a portion of the wall with what defines us. I’ve bordered my area with first letters from Romans 8.

I’m still stumbling through Romans 8. Some verses have been very hard for me (hello, Romans 8:10-11), so when the more familiar ones come along (Romans 8:1, 26, 28) I’m happy.
The challenge has been worth it though. And I’ve loved knowing I’m not alone in the trying.
I’ve been working on memorizing Psalm 103. It is so rich, and a blessing to hide in my heart. The thing I love about Bible memorization is anyone can do it! It doesn’t take a gifted memory, it just takes repitition. If you hear, read, or say anything enough times it will stick. I can’t think of a better use of my mind or time than hiding His Word in my heart.
Well said, Brooke!
I’ve been listening this week to Matt Redman’s song “10,000 Reasons- Bless the Lord” and it has reminded me so often of Psalm 103. Such a great chapter to memorize.
I started reading through the Bible in February and somehow have forgotten my Romans 8 commitment. I was very faithful from the start. I love this chapter and so I will continue this month! I need to go back and review what I have already memorized. Thanks for being such a great leader, Lisa!
I’m glad you’ll keep going, Shonda. And it’s great that you’re reading through the Bible, too!
That is awesome Lisa. Very unique border. =)
I ran out of wall before I ran out of verses though. ha. Romans 8 is a long chapter. But that’s okay. I’ve still got it all on paper. :-)
