MEMORIZE

Plan A:

And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:4

Plan B:

for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
James 1:3

MEDITATE

Staying under a trial isn’t always optional. We often have no ability to alter our circumstances even if we want to.

But enduring a trial with cheerfulness is our choice (James 1:2). If we can maintain our joy in the Lord despite swirling situations around us, we will mature (James 1:4). (We’ll see this again in James 1:12.)

PRAY

Lord,
I want to meet my trials with steadfastness so I can be complete in you. You alone can make me whole. Help me keep this promise in the front of my mind this week.

If we remain faithful, God will mature us. Memorize James 1:4 with me. #HideHisWord

This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

Heavens Declare God’s Glory – Psalm 19:1

April 11, 2015 by Kathy Howard 1 Comment

God's Glory

God's Glory

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

Psalm 19:1-6, NIV

Philippians 4:8 – Fix Your Thoughts

April 10, 2015 by Ali Shaw 1 Comment

Phil 4:8 at donotdepart.com Shareable Scripture Graphics

At times, my thoughts are not what they should be. I sometimes think negatively when I should be positive. I think fearfully when I should be courageous. The list goes on.

I’m thankful for a God who understands our nature. Isn’t it wonderful that He reminds us through His word that our thoughts are important to Him? He sets boundaries so that we might stay within His blessing.

Father, help me today to choose to think thoughts that bring you glory and keep me within your will. Amen.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Phil 4:8, NLT

Let the Word of Christ Dwell in You Richly – Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16. Visit DoNotDepart.com for more shareable scripture graphics! #SpreadTheWord

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

No Fear in Love – 1 John 4:18

no-fear-in-love-1-john-4-18

16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.

Declare the Praises – 1 Peter 2:9

April 7, 2015 by Patti Brown 1 Comment

1 Peter 2:9

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

When trials come – James 1:2-3 {Memory verse}

April 6, 2015 by Lisa Burgess 4 Comments

James-1_2-3

James-1_2-3

MEMORIZE

Plan A:

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
James 1:2-3

Plan B:

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
James 1:2

MEDITATE

When are you the most joyful? It seems easiest when things are going right, yes?

But James says that when things are going wrong, we can still choose joy. Instead of letting our circumstances lead our attitudes, we can set the tone ourselves.

How? By faith. If we can believe that God is using our momentary trials to work something greater in us, it’s easier to keep not just some joy, but all joy, as James says.

PRAY

Lord,
I’m not there yet. But I’m trusting in You through these truths we’re memorizing. May we learn to prove our beliefs by keeping our joy. Whatever may come, all will be well.

What to do when things get tough? Memorize James 1:2-3 with us and find out! #HideHisWord

Matthew 28:6a. Visit DoNotDepart.com for more shareable scripture graphics! #SpreadTheWord

1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he[a] lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
